| A Project with town-planning students |
One of the problems we have with students engaged in a vocational curriculum is how to infuse them with the technical lexis they need in their activity. We have already dealt, though differently, with this issue, see here for more... In this case, with future town planners and territory managers we set out to transpose a Nouvel Observateur article entitled La Guerre de l'Or Bleu (click for the original text) and obviously related to how water resources are being dealt with in the world today. These were the instructions given:

Read the Nouvel Observateur passage you were assigned. Explain it in English. Writing Practice Working in pairs, write in English —this is no translation, only transposition of the ideas— the French passage you examined. Save your work on a regular basis. |
